TOPIC… ZACCHAEUS: _”conquer yourself first”
The story of Zacchaeus (LK19:1-10) is indeed a very encouraging one. One thing that would always make this man oustanding is the fact that he was able to conquer himself. He was a man of small stature, and a tax collector whom people often referred to as sinners in the Bible.
The Bible says in Proverbs 16:32 that *he who rules his spirit is better than he that conquers a city*. Zacchaeus was able to conquer himself before he could see Jesus. He disregarded the opinion of people about him and pressed on to encountering Jesus. Brethren, this must be our disposition if we are really going to occupt till He comes.
Have people gossipped about you? Have they called you names? Have you been looked down upon? Never mind beloved, Jesus is coming your way soon. But we have to forgive and release those who have hurt usnso as to be able to locate and climb our *sycamore tree*.
We must not live by denying the fact that we have been hurt by people around us, rather we have to speak the truth to ourselves and then pray for them. Seems pretty hard though, but I assure you beloved, that is the way to the top.
