Advent Reflections – Day 15 (14 DECEMBER 2025)
First Reading: Isaiah 35: 1-6a, 10

Gospel: Matthew 11: 2-11
“Say to the fainthearted: Take courage, and fear not: behold your God will bring the revenge of recompense: God himself will come and will save you – Isa 35:4.”
In a country besieged by corruption, hardship, insecurity, joblessness, and many troubling realities, countless believers have questioned the authenticity of God’s promises to provide or fight for us. They have wondered whether the miracles of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, or the early Christians still reflect God’s present desire to deliver His people from their daily fears and struggles. It is no surprise that many now pray again and again, with a deep cry for God to “prove Himself.” While these prayers might not look bad, they reflect how frustrated we have become after weeks, months, or years of waiting on God.
In today’s Gospel, John the Baptist was so frustrated that he sent two of his disciples to confirm whether Jesus was the messiah expected or if they should look for another saviour – Matt 11:1-2. But Jesus responded in vs 4-6, “Go and relate to John what you have heard and seen…And blessed is he that shall not be scandalized in me”. Brethren, take courage, do not give up on God. As the second reading puts it: “Be you therefore also patient, and strengthen your hearts: for the coming of the Lord is at hand.” -James 5:8.
We are in a period when we all need to strengthen our hearts, learning that a heart with deep knowledge of God, our Father, requires no proof from Him. It simply hopes and trusts in Him. Therefore, our weeks, months, or even years of waiting should not discourage us. We must learn that a victorious hope is rooted in the peace that only God can give.
In many ways, the bible has reminded us that our God—the Almighty—is always on our side, working behind the scenes even when we cannot see or comprehend it. So, hold on. Do not let the present darkness overshadow the certainty of God’s power. Your waiting is not wasted, and your prayers are not ignored. God is still faithful, still mighty to save, and still committed to His children. Be encouraged: hope again, believe again, and trust that God will show up for you—right on time.
In this season of Advent, we must remember that there’s a peace that goes with hope. May this peace that surpasses human understanding be granted to us in Jesus name. Amen. Peace be with you.
