The Dividends of Listening to God (Isaiah 48:18-19)

Advent Reflections Day 13 (12th December 2025)

1st reading: Isaiah 48:17-19
Psalm 1:1-4,6
Gospel: Matthew 11:16-19

Brethren, the readings of today all point to the incredible blessings attached to obedience and openness to God. In the first reading, Prophet Isaiah highlights God’s desire to bless His people through obedience as against the spiritual poverty and barrenness His people experienced due to their stubbornness and hardness of heart.

The Psalm contrasts the life of the righteous with the worthless existence of the wicked. It describes the blessings that flow from aligning with God’s words as opposed to worldly and Godless patterns. The Gospel requires us to listen to God, no matter how He passes the message to us.

Children of God, please let us do away with any form of rejection of God’s message and messengers, inconsistent expectations, and above all, hardness of heart. May God make us partakers of His blessings, especially as we await His coming at Christmas in Jesus name, amen

Prayers:
1) Let us pray that God turn every heart of stone to a heart of flesh in Jesus’ name, amen.

2) Let us pray that our lives continue to radiate God’s love and blessings through Christ ,our Lord, amen
