Advent Reflections Day 12 (11th December, 2025)

First reading: Isaiah 41: 13-20
Psalm 144 (145): 1,9-13a
Gospel: Matthew 11:11-15

Dear brothers and sisters, as we prepare for the joyful season of Christmas, which marks the celebration of the birth of Christ, be reminded beforehand that you have been Consecrated (set apart) for a divine purpose. You are not here by accident, and you were never a mistake, rather, you were specially designed for God’s work. God is more interested in working through you than you can ever imagine.

John the Baptist came preparing the way for the Lord, baptising in the name of the Lord, and preparing the heart of men to receive the messiah (John 3:3). John the Baptist prepared his heart and made it a dwelling place for the Lord, little wonder, the fire to do God’s work and fulfill his divine purpose burned in his heart.

Brethren, this season provides us the opportunity to prepare our heart for Christ, making it a dwelling place for him with full recognition of his kingship in our lives. This makes it possible for us to pattern our lives and path in line with God’s purpose because he is enthroned in our heart. By preparing our heart, we make a decision to turn away from sin and whatever that does not align with Christ and then begin to walk in the light and in righteousness.

Prayer.
Father, thank you for your purpose and call upon my life. I surrender to you this day and ask for the grace to make my heart a dwelling place for you. Let the fire of your love burn in my heart and make me live each day, fulfilling the very reason of my creation. Amen.
