Advent Reflections Day 7 (6th December 2025)

First Reading:Isaiah 30:19-21.23-26
Psalm: 147: 1-2.3-4.5-6
Gospel: Matthew 9:35-10:1, 5a, 6-8

To wait, in its simplest meaning, is to expect, to hold hope in our hearts for what has not yet appeared. But for many Christians, waiting can feel uncomfortable. It is often a silent season, a period where nothing seems to move, and the questions rise: How long, Lord? When will this change?

The first reading from Isaiah 30:21 reminds us of the path God desires for us. In the waiting, we are called to walk in the right way, trusting that light will eventually expose every form of unrighteousness and reveal God’s guidance. For Jesus Himself declares, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” Choosing His way leads to life and any other path leads only to loss.

The waiting season tests and strengthens our faith. In Matthew 9:28, Jesus asked the blind men, “Do you believe I am able to do this?” Their response, “Yes, Lord,” opened the door to their miracle. Waiting is the space where our faith becomes real, where we hold on to God even when our eyes see nothing. The Psalmist says: “Blessed are those who wait for the Lord,” and in Isaiah 40 vs 31 says, “Those who hope in the Lord shall renew their strength.” God never forgets His own; He rewards those who trust Him with patience. This is the heart of Advent, a season where we wait with renewed hope for His coming.

The Gospel also reminds us of our mission: we are sent to carry hope to those who have lost it and to bring back those wandering like sheep without a shepherd. Heaven rejoices more over one soul restored than over many who never strayed. As we journey through advent, may our light remain burning. May we entrust our lives to God, believing He will lead us in His perfect time, according to His perfect plan.
